The ReCode Project is a community-driven effort to preserve computer art by translating it into a modern programming language (p5.js). Every translated work will be available to the public to learn from, share, and build on.
The project's main goals are:
- Bring pioneering works of computational art back into circulation.
- Offer a learning resource to contemporary practitioners and educators.
- Create an active community.

Current Projects
"Computer Graphics and Art" was a quarterly magazine published between 1976 and 1978. We are using PDF copies of the entire run of the magazine as our starting point for the project. The majority of the artworks have no code published alongside the original result, providing an opportunity for a variety of interpretations and approaches, all of which can become the starting point for a new work.
PDFs of the original source documents come from compart via Rhizome.
